SAN DIEGO, Nov. 9, 2009 - When it comes to the antenna ball game, Jack in the Box®
restaurants are in a league of their own with more than 28 million of the popular "Jack" antenna
balls in circulation. The company today unveils its newest antenna ball, which will raise money
for Big Brothers Big Sisters, the nation's largest donor-supported network of volunteer mentors
of youth.
The limited-edition antenna ball features a classic Jack-style noggin sporting a backwards
baseball cap and red wrap shades, and blowing a gum bubble. The antenna ball is available for
just $1, plus tax, at all participating Jack in the Box restaurants, while supplies last. Seventy
percent of antenna ball sales will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters, the primary charitable partner of
Jack in the Box for more than a decade. This is the second year that Jack in the Box has sold a
limited-edition antenna ball to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Last year's promotion
was a major success, raising nearly $360,000 for the youth mentoring organization.
Jack in the Box will also promote its Big Brothers Big Sisters partnership at the 2010
Tournament of Roses® Parade in Pasadena, Calif., where the company will again enter a float.
The company's 2009 entry, dubbed Jack-O-Licious, won the prestigious Extraordinaire Trophy
as the most spectacular entry over 55 feet. Riding along with Jack atop the 2010 float will be the
2009 California Big Sister of the Year, Christy Stoeckel, and her Little Sister, April.
"Having a mentor can literally change a child's life, and that's why we're so dedicated to
our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters," said Terri Funk Graham, senior vice president
and chief marketing officer for Jack in the Box Inc. "We're looking forward to our antenna ball
promotion and the Tournament of Roses Parade as great opportunities to raise money and
awareness for a terrific cause."

Did you know that today, September 15, marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month?
So what's Hispanic Heritage Month? Hispanic Heritage Month is the time to recognize the contributions of Latino Americans to the United States and to celebrate Latino heritage and culture.
Do you know why it starts on September 15? This date was chosen as the starting point for the celebration because it is the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. They all declared independence in 1821. Maybe you did know that, but something that you might not know is that Big Brothers Big Sisters is leading the way in service to the Latino Community ensuring that the children within our communities have access to the proven benefits of our programs.
Our Latino Mentoring program provides Latino children with a caring Big Brother or Big Sister to enrich their lives culturally, socially, and academically. Big Brothers Big Sisters provides ongoing support to the volunteer, child and the child's family to ensure the strongest and longest lasting relationships possible. The program's success hinges on collaboration with Hispanic-serving agencies, funders and leaders in the Latino community.
It has grown to represent how intentional emphasis on a community has enhanced the quality and growth of our matches between Bigs and Littles. Both national and local outreach efforts engage schools, volunteers, advocacy groups and companies to make sure Latino children are matched with appropriate adults, and that matches are long-term and beneficial to everyone involved.

Donations Go to Local Communities
PLANO, TEXAS, (March 12, 2009) – From March 13 through April 11, customers and area residents can visit their neighboring Rent-A-Center to donate one dollar and sign a colorful spring egg to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Rent-A-Center's more than 3,000 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico participate in the yearly fund-raiser.
"Our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters means a lot to our co-workers who go all out year after year to make this fund-raiser a success," said Mark Speese, chairman and CEO of Rent-A-Center. "We gratefully acknowledge the support of our customers and the communities where we have stores to help Big Brothers Big Sisters."
Contributions collected by Rent-A-Center stores are matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000 by the company. Since the fund-raising program began in 2003, Rent-A-Center has given the maximum $100,000 match each year and has donated a total of $1.52 million to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Some Rent-A-Center stores will be hosting Big Brothers Big Sisters groups that will give out information about the program.
"We are grateful that Rent-A-Center is partnering with us to make a difference in the lives of children in so many communities," said Big Brothers Big Sisters of America President and Chief Executive Officer Judy Vredenburgh. "Partnerships with corporate citizens, schools, communities and of course, families, are necessary to support structured long-term mentoring so that we can continue to improve the odds for some of America's most vulnerable children."

They are some of the best people in the world: Mentors. They give from their hearts. They help change the way our children grow up in America. During Mentoring Month (January 2009) we want to celebrate and acknowledge them. You can help by nominating a mentor you know for the Big Brothers Big Sisters' America's Big Citizen of the Year Award. It's simple ... take a look. Nominate someone today!
Wrap Up the Year
This is the time of year when we all have lots of presents needing glorious wrapping paper and ribbon. Instead of rushing off to the wrapping paper store and spending lots of money on someone else's pretty paper, a great activity is making your own. Bigs and Littles together get to be artistic and express their creativity while making something sure to please that special someone lucky enough to receive the package. For some suggestions for creating that perfect present wrapper, read on....
